A giclee print is a reproduction of an original work of art produced by a high-quality digital process.

All prints from the Giclee Salon are printed on the highest quality paper or canvas using archival inks.  The works are subject to the same wear as you would find with any other artwork.  It is estimated that your giclee print, if kept under reasonable environmental conditions (i.e., avoid direct exposure to sunlight, very low or very high temperatures, and maintain low humidy) should last over 125 years.

Unlike some shops which rely primarily on scanners to capture the image of the artwork all of our artwork is reproduced from a high-resolution photograph using the latest digital camera technology.  Works are brought into a studio, and the lighting is individually adjusted to bring out the unique details for each piece.  The images are then closely examined to determine the color match, textural qualities, and detailed aspects of the image match as closely as possible to the original work.

At Giclee Salon we use only the highest quality archival papers and canvases to ensure that your giclee print will be durable and will be as faithful as possible to the original artwork.  Please refer to the section on our website that provides details about the specific papers and cavasses we use in the printing process

While we strive to make every print with the utmost attention to detail we recognize that there are times when you feel you must return the product.  Our return policy allows you 30 days to decide whether the product is satisfactory.  If within this time period you wish to return the print for either a full refund or a replacement please follow the return directions accompanying the work or check the returns section fo our website.

Frequently, we will make a limited number of copies of a particular artist's work.   In this case once the production of the prints are completed the original digital reproduction is destroyed and no further prints of the work can be made.  This preserves the value of the giclee print and provides a unique opportunity to invest in fine works of art by various artists.

A giclee print can generally be purchased for a fraction of the price of the original artwork.  Giclee prints are considered fine art and can increase in value depending on market conditions just as with the original works of art

Giclee prints have become very popular.  As a result many online dealers and art gallerys now offer giclee prints for sale.  To determine the quality of a print you are considering for purchase you should inquire as to how the original artwork was captured into a digital image, the printing process and inks used to produce the print, and the quality of the paper or canvas.  The Giclee Salon is unique in that we only capture images  of original artwork using the latest high-resolution digital photographic equipment.  This part of the process takes place in a professional photographic studio where lighting can be precisely controlled and images can be matched to their originals using calibrated equipment.  The printing equipment we use is state of the art and specifically designed for fine-art reproduction.  Only archival inks are used.  Finally, we select only top-quality papers and canvases that are specifically designed for fine-art reproduction.  We will only use the heavier papers with lab-proven reproductive properties for our prints.  Similarly, our canvases are top quality and are also post-treated to ensure longevity.

For each print we indicate the actual picture size to the nearest 1/8 inch.  The product that you receive will be bigger than this so that you have adequate material to have the work framed.  For most prints we offer more than one size.  If you would like to inquire about a special size and the associated pricing email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
